เช้าวันเสาร์ที่ ๒๘ กุมภาพันธ์ ๒๕๕๘ เป็นวันที่ผมได้รับข่าวเศร้าวันหนึ่งกับการจากไปของดาราต่างประเทศผู้รับบทที่ถือว่าเป็นไอดอลของวงการทีวีในสมัยเกือบ ๕๐ ปีก่อน ใช่แล้ว ผมหมายถึง เลียวนาร์ด นิมอย (Leonard Nimoy) ผู้รับบทเป็น มิสเตอร์ สป๊อค ในหนังทีวี ตะลุยจักรวาล (Star Trek) อันโด่งดัง

สำหรับท่านที่ไม่รู้จักและไม่เคยชมตะลุยจักรวาลมาก่อน มันเป็นหนังทีวีซีรีย์ที่ถูกสร้างและออกฉายที่อเมริกาในระหว่างปี ๒๕๐๙ ถึง ๒๕๑๑ เป็นแนววิทยาศาสตร์ว่าด้วยการสำรวจจักรวาลด้วยยานอวกาศ เอนเตอร์ไพรส์ (Enterprise) ในโลกอนาคต ศตวรรษ ที่ ๒๓ ในยุคที่ยานอวกาศสามารถเดินทางด้วยความเร็วเหนือแสง ผมไม่รู้แน่ชัดว่ามันถูกฉายในเมืองไทยปีใด แต่เท่าที่จำได้ผมได้ดูมันในปี ๒๕๑๒ หรือ ๒๕๑๓
แม้ว่ารายการจะถูกยกเลิกหลังจาก ออกฉายได้ ๓ ปี แต่คุณค่าของมันก็ได้พิสูจน์ให้เห็น เมื่อมันถูกสร้างเป็นรายการอนิเมชันว่าด้วยลูกเรือเดิมในราวปี ๒๕๑๖ ตามมาด้วยการถูกสร้างเป็นภาพยนตร์ออกฉายในโรงเมื่อปี ๒๕๒๒ กล่าวถึงลูกเรือดั้งเดิม ซึ่งมีการสร้างต่อมาอีกหลายภาค อีกทั้งในปี ๒๕๓๐ รายการทีวีชุดใหม่ ซึ่งเกี่ยวกับลูกเรือชุดใหม่และยานลำใหม่ก็ออกฉาย (Star Trek : The Next Generation) รายการชุดใหม่นี้ยังต่อยอดออกมาอีกหลายชุด เช่น Star Trek : Deep Space Nine, Star Trek : Voyager (ผมไม่ทราบว่ารายการชุดใหม่เหล่านี้ได้ออกฉายในเมืองไทยหรือเปล่า) Star Trek : Enterprise จน Next Generation ได้กลายมาเป็นหนังโรง แทน ชุดดั้งเดิม และในที่สุด ในปัจจุบัน ก็มีการรีบูทหนังโรงกลับไปเป็นการผจญภัยของลูกเรือชุดดั้งเดิมแต่เป็นวัยหนุ่มอีกครั้ง
นั่นเป็นโอกาสที่ทำให้ผู้ชมรุ่นใหม่ได้รู้จัก มิสเตอร์ สป๊อค มนุษย์ต่างดาวลูกครึ่ง ชาววัลแคน-โลก !! และยังเป็นโอกาสที่ชาว เทรคคี่ ( Trekkie ชื่อเรียกแฟนพันธ์แท้ของ ตะลุยจักรวาล ) ได้มีสมาชิกรุ่นใหม่ด้วย
สำหรับผม ดังที่กล่าวแล้วว่ามีโอกาสดู ตะลุยจักรวาลชุดดั้งเดิมเมื่อกว่า ๔๐ ปีมาแล้วตอนยังเด็กมาก จึงจดจำมันได้แค่ ๓ ถึง ๔ ตอนเท่านั้น แต่ มิสเตอร์ สป๊อค ก็เป็นไอดอลสัญลักษณ์ของ ตะลุยจักรวาลมาตั้งแต่นั้น ผมชอบคาแรคเตอร์นี้มากกว่า ตัวกัปตันเคิร์ก ซึ่งเป็นพระเอกเสียอีก และเชื่อว่าแฟนรายการหลายคนทั่วโลก ก็รู้สึกเช่นกัน ขอยกความดีให้ ยีน รอดเดนเบอรี ผู้แต่ง และแน่นอน เลียวนาร์ด นิมอย ผู้สวมบทบาท จนทำให้ผู้ชมจดจำ
ในความคิดของผม มีความพยายามที่จะสร้างคาแรคเตอร์คที่มีจุดเด่นเพื่อเทียบเคียงกับ มิสเตอร์ สป๊อค เช่นวัลแคนหญิง ในหนังโรงของชุดดั้งเดิม แอนดรอยด์ เดต้า ใน The Next Generation หรือ วัลแคนลูกครึ่งกับชาวโลกผิวดำ ใน Voyager แต่สำหรับผม ไม่มีคาแรคเตอร์ไหนเทียบเคียงและเป็นที่จดจำได้เท่า มิสเตอร์ สป๊อค
แม้แต่การ์ตูน ด๊อกเตอร์สลัมป์ กับ อาราเล่ ยัง มีมิสเตอร์ สป๊อคร่วมเป็นหนึ่งในตัวละครเลย ใครจะเชื่อว่าคาแรคเตอร์ มิสเตอร์ สป๊อคนี้เกือบจะถูกตัดออกจากรายการตั้งแต่ต้นโดยผู้บริหารช่องทีวี เพราะมีหูแหลมคล้ายรูปร่างในความเชื่อของซาตาน !!!
นี่คือเหรียญที่ระลึกการฉาย Star Trek ฉบับรีบูท รอบปฐมทัศน์ของโลก เมื่อปี ๒๕๕๒ (2009) ที่ซิดนีย์โอเปร่าเฮาส์ ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ผมไปเที่ยวที่นั่นสามวันหลังจากรอบปฐมทัศน์นั้น น่าเสียดายที่ไม่ได้ไปในวันนั้น และยิ่งรู้สึกเสียดายยิ่งขึ้นในวันนี้

I was
receiving tragic news in the Saturday morning, 28th Feb 2015 about the passing
of one of the TV idol during 1960s. Yes,
it was the loss of Leonard Nimoy who played Mr. Spock in the famous series Star
Trek.
For those have not seen or been aware of the show, it was about space exploration in 23rd century on board the starship USS Enterprise when the interstellar travelling was already possible. The show was made and on air in the US during 1966-1968. I can not recall on what exact year I had chance to watch the show in Thailand but could possibly be during 1969 or 1970 when I was still in my childhood.
Though the show was cancelled after only 3 seasons, the popularity and worthy amongst fans have never faded away. The adaptation of the original show into TV Animation series happened in the mid-1970s, following by the big screen premiere of the same crew in 1979 ( Star Trek the Motion Picture ). This would continue in several instalments. Then in 1987, the new TV series of the new crew was introduced ( Star Trek : The Next Generation ) which in turn created several spin-offs ( Star Trek : Deep Space Nine, Star Trek : Voyager, and the last TV series which had gone back to be prequel of the original, The Enterprise ). Later, the Next Generation became the big screen replacing the aging original crews.
And finally, the reboot of the original crew with the younger cast is what we have right now in theatres. This is a new chance for the young fans to be introduced to the famous half Vulcan-Earthling, Mr. Spock!! Also the Trekkies can welcome more new and young members into the group.
As mentioned early, I watched the TV series when I was just a kid. So I could remember only one or two episodes. However, Mr. Spock was my favorite character ahead of even Captain Kirk. In my humble opinion, this character became the show's idol. I have to offer two thumbs up to the series creator Gene Roddenberry and of course, to Leonard Nimoy who portrayed the character vividly.
I also believe that in the later series, there were some attempts to introduce characters to obtain the same success status as Mr. Spock, for examples, android Data in the Next Generation, half Vulcan-half African hybrid in the Voyager. To me, no new characters could compare with Mr. Spock though.
Even the Japanese Manga ( Japanese Comic books ) called Dr. Slump and Arale, has to have Mr. Spock as guest character in its story. No one could imagine that the character was almost abandoned in the first place by Channel Senior because its pointy ears resemble that of Satan!!
So, now what I have left to say is to bid farewell Leonard Nimoy in Vulcan way of greetings.
